Selling supplements on Allegro as a foreign brand

If Polish customers shop online, they very likely shop on Allegro. For supplement brands it is often the fastest route to first sales - and one of the most demanding. Here is how it works for a foreign brand.

Short answer

Selling supplements on Allegro as a foreign brand means registering a verified business account, listing only compliant food supplements that have been notified to GIS, writing full listings in Polish, pricing competitively against local sellers, offering fast courier delivery, collecting reviews and using Allegro Ads. Most foreign brands succeed faster with a Polish partner handling stock, logistics and customer service.

What Allegro is and why it matters for supplements

Allegro is Poland's largest online marketplace and, for many Polish shoppers, the starting point for any online purchase. People search it the way they search Google: to check prices, compare products and read reviews, even when they end up buying elsewhere. For a new supplement brand, that makes Allegro both a sales channel and a visibility channel.

Selling supplements on Allegro has clear advantages:

  • Built-in demand. Customers already search for your category, so you do not have to create traffic from scratch.
  • Trust in the platform. Buyer protection and familiar checkout reduce the risk customers feel when trying an unknown brand.
  • Fast feedback. Sales, reviews and search positions show quickly whether your offer works.

And real costs: commissions and fees, intense price competition, and the fact that the customer relationship belongs more to the platform than to you.

General requirements for selling food supplements

Allegro's terms change over time, so always check the current seller rules and category requirements before you list. In general, a foreign brand should expect the following:

  • A verified business account. Allegro verifies company sellers, so you will need company registration documents and details that match them.
  • A compliant product. The supplement must meet EU and Polish food law, including a Polish label and permitted ingredients and doses.
  • Proof of notification. A GIS notification must be filed before the product is first placed on the Polish market. Marketplaces may ask for evidence of it, so keep the confirmation ready.
  • A responsible operator. The food business operator named on the label should be consistent with who sells and who takes responsibility.
  • Polish-language service. Customers expect to communicate in Polish, and response times affect your seller standing.

Some supplement categories and ingredients are more sensitive than others, and platforms can restrict listings they consider risky. If your product sits near a borderline category, confirm with a food law firm and check Allegro's category rules before you commit stock.

Listings in Polish that sell and stay compliant

An Allegro listing is your label, your shop window and your sales pitch in one. It must be written in Polish, and a machine translation of your English product page will not compete with local sellers.

What a strong supplement listing includes:

  • A precise title with the product type, key ingredient, form, dose and pack size, because that is how customers search.
  • Clear photos of the front and back of the pack, with the Polish label legible, plus simple infographics on dose and use.
  • Full composition per daily portion with % NRV for vitamins and minerals, matching the physical label.
  • Only authorised claims. Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 applies to listings too, so a health claim that is not in the EU register cannot appear in the title, description or images.
  • Accurate parameters in the category fields, which drive filtering and search visibility.

The single most common problem we see is descriptions that promise more than the label allows. Keep marketing copy and label claims in sync, and review both with the same compliance lens.

Pricing and delivery expectations

On Allegro, your price sits next to your competitors' prices, often on the same screen. Customers compare the price per pack, but experienced buyers also compare price per capsule or per daily dose. Price your product so that it is defensible on both.

Delivery expectations are high. Polish customers are used to fast, cheap courier delivery, often to parcel lockers, and many are members of Allegro Smart!, the platform's delivery programme, which influences which offers they choose. In practice, this means:

  • Stock must be in Poland. Shipping each order from the UK, the US or even Western Europe rarely meets customer expectations for speed and cost.
  • Dispatch must be fast. Same-day or next-day dispatch from a local warehouse is the standard to aim for.
  • The warehouse must handle food. A warehouse storing supplements must be registered with the sanitary inspection, as we explain in our supply chain guide.
  • Returns and complaints must be handled in Polish, quickly and according to consumer law.

Reviews, seller ratings and Allegro Ads

Reviews carry more weight for supplements than for most categories, because customers cannot test the product before buying. A new listing with no reviews competes poorly against a local product with hundreds. Your launch plan should include a deliberate way to earn the first reviews: excellent packaging, a short insert with usage tips, fast delivery and polite follow-up within the platform's rules. Never buy or fake reviews - it breaches platform terms and consumer protection law.

Seller ratings matter too. Allegro rewards sellers with good service metrics, which influences how customers perceive you and how your offers perform.

Allegro Ads is the platform's advertising system. Sponsored offers appear in search results and on product pages, and for a new brand they are often the only way to get early visibility. We usually recommend:

  1. Start with sponsored offers on your hero product, targeting the searches customers already use for your category.
  2. Watch cost per sale, not clicks. A cheap click that does not convert is expensive.
  3. Use ads to reach review momentum, then shift budget as organic positions improve.
  4. Coordinate with creator campaigns. Influencer marketing often drives branded searches on Allegro, which convert well.

Allegro vs own store vs TikTok Shop vs retail

Allegro is rarely the only channel, but it is often the first. The table below shows how it compares with the other main routes into Polish customers.

A practical Allegro launch plan for a foreign brand

For a foreign brand, the hard part of Allegro is not the listing - it is everything behind it: an EU operator, compliant stock in Poland, fast dispatch and Polish customer service. This is the order we follow:

  1. Confirm compliance. Polish label, GIS notification and claims reviewed for both the pack and the listing.
  2. Put stock in Poland. Import or relabel and store in a warehouse registered with the sanitary inspection.
  3. Set up the account. A verified business account linked to the entity that sells, with delivery and returns configured.
  4. Launch one hero product. A complete Polish listing, competitive pricing and Allegro Ads from day one.
  5. Build reviews and measure. Track cost per sale, conversion rate and repeat purchases before adding products.

Frequently asked questions

Can a foreign company sell supplements on Allegro?
Yes. Allegro accepts company sellers, including from abroad, after verification. In practice a foreign brand also needs an EU-based food business operator, a Polish label, a GIS notification and stock in Poland to compete on delivery. Check Allegro's current seller terms before you start.
Do I need a GIS notification to sell supplements on Allegro?
Yes. The GIS notification is a legal requirement before a food supplement is first placed on the Polish market, whatever the channel. Marketplaces may ask for evidence of it, so keep the confirmation available.
Do Allegro listings have to be in Polish?
Listings aimed at Polish customers should be fully in Polish, and the product's mandatory food information must be available in Polish. A native, category-aware description also performs far better than a machine translation.
Can I use health claims in Allegro listings?
Only claims authorised in the EU register under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006, used in permitted wording and with the ingredient dosed to meet the conditions of use. This applies to titles, descriptions and images, not just the physical label.
Is Allegro Ads worth it for a new supplement brand?
Usually yes, at least at launch, because a new product has no reviews or organic ranking. Measure cost per sale rather than clicks, and reduce spend as reviews and organic positions build.
Should I start on Allegro or with my own online store?
Many foreign brands start on Allegro to validate demand and build visibility, then grow their own store for margin and customer data. If your brand is creator-led with strong repeat purchase, starting with your own store can work too.
